Welcome to Kansas City Scout. By participating in our auctions, you agree to the following terms and conditions.

1. General Bidding & Sales Terms

  • Buyer’s Premium: A 15% buyer’s premium is added to the final hammer price of each auction lot.

  • Item Condition: All items are sold "AS IS, WHERE IS" with no guarantees of any kind, except for the explicit guarantee of coin authenticity.

  • Binding Contract: Once you win a bid, you enter into a legally binding contract and must pay for the item.

  • Auctioneer Authority: The auctioneer reserves the right to accept bids in any increment, withdraw or re-catalog items, and handle disputed bids at their discretion. Announcements made on the day of the sale take precedence over printed or digital material.

2. Coin Grading & Estimates

  • Subjective Nature of Grading: Coin grading is subjective. Buyers are responsible for examining and grading items to their satisfaction before bidding.

  • No Returns Based on Grade: ABSOLUTELY NO RETURNS will be accepted based on disagreement over coin grade. Buyers must rely entirely on their own inspection and judgment.

  • Value Estimates: Estimated values are based on recent Coin World trends for the listed grade. These estimates are provided for informational purposes only and do not represent a guaranteed value or an inducement to bid a specific amount. Please contact us before bidding if you have questions about a specific lot.

3. Payment Terms & Methods

Payments are due promptly after the auction concludes.

  • Accepted Payment Methods: Visa, Mastercard, Discover, PayPal, ACH Transfer, Checks, and Money Orders.

  • Gold Purchases: We do not accept credit cards for gold purchases. You must pay for gold via PayPal, ACH Transfer, or physical check.

  • Check Processing: Orders paid by check will be held until the funds have fully cleared our bank before shipment.

4. Shipping & Handling

  • Standard Shipping Rates (Contiguous U.S. Only):

    • Invoices totaling $299.00 or less: $12.50 flat rate

    • Invoices totaling $300.00 or more: $19.50 flat rate

  • Excluded Regions: Standard rates apply only to the 48 contiguous United States. Shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. Territories, Canada, or international destinations will be calculated based on carrier rates, insurance, and duties.

  • Dispatch Timeline: Items ship via USPS or FedEx within two business days after we receive and clear full payment.

  • Lost or Damaged Packages: Bidders have 90 days from the date of purchase to report lost or damaged packages to Kansas City Scout so we can file an insurance claim and issue a reimbursement. After 90 days, the insurance window closes, and Kansas City Scout is no longer liable for the loss.

5. Return Policy

  • Return Window: Online buyers may request a return within 3 days of receipt by notifying us at 913-940-1267.

  • Restocking Fee: All approved returns are subject to a 15% restocking fee (minimum $10 charge). Original shipping fees are non-refundable, and return shipping costs are the buyer's responsibility.

  • Condition: Returned items must arrive in their original holder and in the exact condition in which they were sent.

6. Technical Limitations & Taxes

  • Online Bidding Platform: Online bidding services are provided as a convenience. Kansas City Scout is not liable for technical failures, internet disruptions, or missed bids. To ensure your bids are recorded, please use the proxy/maximum bid feature at least 24 hours before the auction.

  • Sales Tax: Kansas residents are subject to applicable Kansas state and local sales tax laws.

  • Terms Updates: Terms and conditions are subject to change without prior notice.
